THE VERSATILE WEYSE

One composer - 3 different concerts
We will have the opportunity to hear Weyse in all his breadth and in different formats that appeal to children, young people and adults alike. For this year's celebration, we have carefully selected music from Weyse's versatile oeuvre and put it together in three main concerts under the headings: Church, Salon and Theater. Weyse's instrumental works, excerpts from cantatas and ballads, hymns, songs and his entire first symphony are on the program when Concerto Copenhagen conducted by Lars Ulrik Mortensen, students from the Conservatory and the Conservatory's children's choir join forces for a full-day tribute to one of the most significant composers in Danish music history.

The first concert of the day features two magnificent excerpts from both an Easter Cantata and a New Year Cantata.
On countless festive occasions, royal birthdays or church festivals, Weyse was asked to compose large cantatas for orchestra, soloists and choir. In addition, we all know Weyse from his many hymns, and not least the morning songs to texts by Ingemann, such as I Østen stiger solen op, Lysets engel and Nu titte til hinanden.
